The right to farm should not be for sale.
Food safety should be a standard you meet. The right to farm should not be an asset you have to buy.
Canada limits the output of dairy, poultry and egg farms through a system called supply management. Production rights, called quotas, help control how much is made. Limits on imports are part of the system too.
We want to phase out quotas that block new farmers. Keep safe food and a reliable supply. Work out a fair change for farmers who paid for the rights under the old rules.
Price the change.
A promise of fair treatment needs a plan and a budget. Show who gets paid, how much, who pays and when the old system ends. Do not claim a grocery saving we have not measured.
Quotas for imports are not the same as rights to produce here. Both need review. The details matter.
Open more doors.
Goods and skilled people should move more easily across Canada. A sound approval in one province should count in another, unless there is a clear reason it cannot.
People trained abroad need a fair way to prove their skills. Tests should have clear fees, deadlines and appeals. We can protect the public without making people start from zero.
Phone and internet markets need room for new firms too. Use current prices and rules. An old price chart cannot prove today's case.
Keep rules that protect people.
We defend rules that keep food safe, prevent fraud and stop harm. Our test is simple: does this rule protect people from harm, or old firms from new rivals?
Open the door to new firms.
Phase out paid farm quotas with a fair plan and a known cost. Make it easier for goods and skills to cross Canada. Open paths for new phone and internet firms. Each rule that blocks entry should have to show whom it protects and from what harm.
