About

I’m Tony Aly. This is my case.

People should have a fair chance to build a good life in Canada. Wake Up Canada argues for changes that help make that happen.

Why I started this

I have built internet businesses for 25 years. I have lived on Denman Island since 2004. Wake Up Canada is mine. I pay for it and choose its campaigns.

Too often, someone with a new idea pays the whole cost of asking. People who say no pay little for what never gets built. I call this Default No. Closed markets, poor loan access and costs passed to the public matter too.

Two questions guide us

Who does this rule protect, and from whom? What better result does it block, and what would change cost?

Sometimes the answers mean we defend the rule. Safe food, clean water, worker safety, access for disabled people and basic rights matter. The system should protect people well and earn its cost.

Better lives are the goal

Our principles are New Urbanist. That means homes near shops, safe streets, places to meet and more ways to travel. More homes matter. Better daily lives matter too.

Affordable housing means homes to rent and homes to buy. Property ownership can help people build wealth. We want that path open to far more people. Lower the cost to get in. Do not rely on a shortage that keeps raising prices.

We favour open markets, safe low-cost imports and clean power. Public help needs a clear goal and cost. Set end dates for trials and help to firms. Review lasting benefits often.

A basic income. Lower taxes.

We fully support universal basic income. We back pilots and tests that help build it. We also want a lower tax burden. These goals need one clear plan for taxes and spending. We will show who pays, who gains and what changes.

People should keep more of what they earn. We want lower taxes from Ottawa, each province and each town. Start with taxes that make work, new homes and new firms cost more. Show the cost of each cut and how to pay for it.

Several fronts. Across Canada.

Canada’s problems do not take turns. We will work on several at once. My life on Denman helped start this work. It does not set the limits of our plans.

We read and cite Build Canada. We build on good ideas and explain where we differ. Our views are our own. We do not claim their backing or a formal partnership.

Who owns this, who pays, and my stake

I, Tony Aly, own Wake Up Canada and Abolish the Islands Trust personally. I pay for both. Neither takes donations.

I own land on Denman Island. My business, Camp Denman, has an open bylaw enforcement file with the Islands Trust. I say the use is lawful and was there before the rules at issue. No adjudicator has ruled. This is my disclosure as of 13 October 2026.

I am not a candidate. Neither brand backs candidates. I have no party ties. I choose the campaigns and answer for our claims and fixes.

Reform first. A clear plan if a body must go.

To abolish a body, we must show why it fails and who can do each needed job. Keep rights and safeguards in place. Plan for records, staff, assets, debts and the cost of the change.

Our Islands Trust campaign must complete that case, job by job. The farm land body, the Agricultural Land Commission, is a reform target. We want fair, timely decisions while keeping farm land safe.

Facts we can stand behind

A strong view can sit beside an unanswered question. We keep those apart. We show our sources and keep facts that challenge us.

If a fact changes, we will put the fix and date at the top of the page. We will also add it to our list of fixes.
