Cheap clean power. The whole bill.

Count cleanup before counting the gain. Low-cost clean power and equipment. Cleanup paid for by those who cause the harm.

OUR CASE FOR CHANGE13 OCT 2026
I back this ↓

Cheap power is useful. Hidden bills are not.

Canada should buy safe, low-cost clean-energy gear and put it to work. We favour solar, useful power grids and tools that cut waste. Cheap imports can help. A small country does not need to make every part itself.

But a panel is not a whole power system. Count the cost of land, wires, storage, backup and keeping the lights on. Compare choices that meet the same need.

Start with today's rules.

Some special duties on covered Chinese solar goods ended on 17 September 2026. That is a real change. It does not mean every tax or import rule is gone. We want to know whether the savings reach buyers.

Cleanup belongs on the bill.

Alberta's auditor reported $1.8 billion held as security for oil-sands mines. Estimated cleanup costs were $51.9 billion. The security figure was for September 2025, using costs from the 2024 reporting year.

Security is money or backing set aside for a duty. This large gap needs scrutiny. It is not proof that taxpayers already owe the difference. It is also not a total for all wells and pipelines.

Make firms show what cleanup will cost, how it will be funded and what work is done. Do not leave the public with a bill after profits have left.

Compare each project fairly.

For oil, gas, pipelines and clean power, count the full cost. Include harm to nature, climate effects, public aid, long-term risks and cleanup. Compare other ways to do the job.

We favour cheap clean energy. We will judge each project on its own facts. Jobs and export sales alone are not the whole measure of value.

Buy useful clean power. Fund the cleanup.

Make safe, low-cost solar easy to buy and connect. Show the whole bill, including storage and grid work when needed. Make resource firms secure the cost of cleanup. Public help for any energy project must face a full cost test.

Compare each project with other ways to meet the same need. Show costs, harm and risks before giving public help.
